Some inventions make life easier while some change the way we do things entirely. This invention is the worst of both worlds but you can’t help but enjoy it. A tinkerer in Hastings, MN just decided one day that he was going to combine a bicycle and a washing machine... and a cowbell (because "why not"?). Now he has a non-functioning washer that an extremely heavy bicycle is made out of but there’s no denying that seeing this go down the road would draw heads and cause lots of laughter! Take a look at the whole story:

There are six things that a majority of people aren’t cleaning correctly. Dishes, shower curtain liner, carpet stains, windows, clothes, and electronics. How you place dishes, glasses, and utensils in the dishwasher is very important in how clean they come out. Even how you mix different metals can potentially damage them so take a look at this article for some quick tips in how to and not to clean certain items:

You have probably been hearing a lot about the controversy over GMOs but do you really know why? The acronym stands for “genetically modified organisms” and is mostly seen in plants but is being experimented with on animals.Just to give you an idea of how much GMOs you’re already consuming, 70% of processed food on grocery store shelves contains at least one genetically modified ingredient. Vegetable oils are generally from plants modified to produce pest killing toxins, ice cream often has “pesticide-proof beet sugar”, and the meat we eat is usually from animals eating feed that has been modified.GMOs are basically any food that has been engineered (usually with DNA from a different plant). The reasons for it are sometimes as simple of creating foods that travel better or last longer but there are also some concerning reasons. Some corn has been modified to be its own pesticide and some foods have been modified to survive high doses of herbicides!For...

Strawberries are a delicious seasonal fruit. The longer you can keep them fresh the better once they have been picked. Make sure you don’t wash them until you’re ready to eat them as they will soak up water and start to rot.

Like most people, they don’t respond well to pressure so try to store them in one layer. Line a plate or bowl with paper towels and chill them(not freeze) until you are ready to use them, then rinse them and enjoy!

For more details on how to store them or for anything strawberry you can think of, take a look at this link: http://localfoods.about.com/od/strawberries/qt/How-To-Store-Strawberries.htm

Appliances are a huge part of our everyday lives which we tend to take for granted until something goes wrong with one. We exist to make sure you are back up and running if anything does go wrong with your appliances but think about what it would be like if we didn’t have appliances! We would have to hand wash dishes… and our CLOTHES! I’m not even sure I’d know where to start trying to hand wash my clothes!

Fortunately, we have more and more access to appliances that prevent us from having to worry about these things. Plus you have access to us to quickly get you back up and running if anything fails on any of your appliances.

There is a lot of technology in our lives that we may not know the origins of. Here is a breakdown of some technological advancement in our lives and you may be surprised how long some of them have been around!

Summer is officially here!! Grab a towel and some sunscreen and start enjoying the warm weather! Summer solstice is attributed to the 23.5 degree tilt of the earth on its axis as it revolves around the sun over 365.25 days of the year. During the summer, the northern hemisphere receives the most direct sunlight since our hemisphere is tilted toward the sun. In other words, tis the season to go get a tan and enjoy the comfortable weather to be outside as much as you want!

There is still a little time left in spring and I know some of you are like me and haven’t quite gotten to spring cleanups yet. One thing that always frustrates me is the things I forget to clean and end up having to . Here’s a great checklist we came across with an all-inclusive list to make sure cleaning is a one-time event. This way we can get on with the summer activities and not worry about going back to dreaded cleaning!

People tend to “accumulate things” and most of us are guilty of it. We end up with accessories and appliances, and gadgets, etc. that often just get moved from place to place but never really get used. We get collections of appliances and various electric utilities which serve a purpose that may seem important at the time but at what point do you admit to yourself that you got duped by a salesman and you’ll never use these things again?

If you ever get a chance to clean out your kitchen, you should take an honest look at what you use and don’t use. If you’re like me and have a hard time getting rid of things, then move what you don’t use to somewhere else and revisit them later to decide if there’s any real reason to hold on to them.

The best way to save money is to stop spending money! There are lots of ways to spend less money on everyday things you don’t have a choice about though. There are lots of things in your house that may be using up far more of your money than you realize.Electronics for example can use up varying amounts of electricity even if they’re not being used. If you have things that you don’t use on a regular basis, it is actually a good idea to leave things unplugged. There are some gadgets you can get to monitor what is consuming electricity in your house but you can generally look up in the manual or online for electronics you leave running or anything you have question about.Another area you can save money in the house is in water consumption. Appliances have become extremely efficient… but we have not! It is shocking how much water we use on a regular basis in brushing our teeth, taking a shower, even going to the bathroom. Heads are available for all faucets and showers that can provide the same feel of water quantity...
